Safety Features For The Family Car
A family car has to be versatile. It should be easily distinguishable by its family friendly traits including accommodation for all passenger sizes- from kids to adults, and flexibility to accommodate most types of luggage. Most importantly though, it must have specific safety features to provide adequate protection. Here are a list of safeguards, your family car simply must have.

Airbags are included in most of the cars. This safety feature is now available in a more advanced form. The advanced frontal airbags are equipped with sensors that factor in the crash severity, occupant size, seat position etc, to determine the level at which to inflate. Needless to say, these particular airbags are better at protecting lives as compared to their more traditional counterparts. The system also effectively reduces any risk of injury or death to children or smaller framed adults due to the airbag.

The ABS or anti lock breaking system is an equally important safety feature that your car must have. It prevents the wheels of the automobile from locking up by applying intermittent pressure on the brake rapidly. This system is generally activated automatically during applications that require heavy breaking. It may also kick in during lighter braking on slick roads. It offers you the twin benefits of shorter stopping distances on slippery surfaces and steering control maintenance. In other words, it gives the average driver more control of the car in emergency situations.

Stability control is also of the utmost importance when it comes to car safety. This sensitive system uses sensors to detect how closely the vehicle's path matches your intended path based on the brake, steering and throttle readings. When required, the system can apply brake force to the wheels, to reduce engine power and thereby prevent the car from skidding dangerously. It can also help the driver maintain control of the car during emergency situations. It is most useful for larger sized vehicles with a high center of gravity.

Flat tires are a common car problem encountered by most drivers. It is usually caused by the under-inflation of a tire. However, with the help of a tire pressure monitoring system you do not have to worry about this problem anymore. The system works by activating a dashboard warning light to notify the driver when tire doesn't have enough air to be driven on safely. Checking your tires regularly for air pressure levels is also a necessary safety measure.

There are several other safety features for your car that are worth your attention.  These include automatic crash notifications, rear parking sensors or camera, active head restraints, child safety seat compatibility, side impact and side curtain airbags etc. After all, the ideal family automobile is all about keeping your family comfortable and safe.
